Octo Cookies

Ingredients 
1 (18-ounce) package refrigerated chocolate chip cookie
dough
¼ cup all-purpose flour
10 whole almonds
Powdered Sugar Glaze (recipe follows)
Assorted food colorings, decorating icings and candies

Method 
1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease lo (13/4-lnCh) mini muffin pan cu ps. Remove dough from wrapper; place ¡n large bowl. Let stand at room temperature 15 minutes.

2. Add flour to dough in bowl; beat with electric mixer at medium speed until well blended. Reserve 1/3 of dough. Wrap remaining dough in plastic wrap; refrigerate.

3. For heads, divide 1/3 dough into 10 equal pieces, placing an almond in center; shape into balls, covering nut completely. Place in muffin cups and freeze 10 minutes. Bake 10 minutes, or just until fìrm. Loosen cookies around edges with tip of small knife or metal spatula. Cool in pan 10 minutes. Remove to wire racks; cool completely.

4. For legs, divide remaining dough into 10 equal pieces.

5. Divide each into 8 pieces; shape each piece into ropes of varying lengths, from 1½ to 2 inches long. Shape tips to point at one end. Arrange 8 legs, with thicker ends touching in center and pointed ends ¼ inch away from each other at outside of circular shape, Bake Sto 8 minutes or just until firm. Cool completely.

6. Place wire racks over waxed paper. Carefully transfer legs to wire racks. Prepare Powdered Sugar Glaze and tint with food colorings.

7. Attach heads to legs using glaze; let stand 15 minutes or until set. Spread remaining glaze over cookies. Let stand about 40 minutes or until completely set.

8 Decorate faces with icings and candies as desired. Makes 10 large cookies

For Powdered Sugar Glaze
2 cups powdered sugar
7 to 9 tablespoons heavy cream, divided

Method 
1. Combine powdered sugar arid 6 tablespoons cream in medium bowl; whisk until smooth.

2 Add enough remaining cream, 1 tablespoon at a time, to make medium-thick pourable glaze. Makes 1 cup
