Ingredients:
Serves 4 to 6
1/2 kilo fresh baby shrimp (preferably live ones that are about 2 inches long when stretched), washed and whiskers removed
1/2 teaspoon salt, for shrimp
1 cup water
1/2 kilo fresh asparagus spears, cut to same
lengths, woody ends trimmed
1/2 teaspoon salt, for asparagus
2 teaspoons calamansi juice
2 tablespoons cooking oil
1 tablespoon minced garlic
Method:
Place the shrimp in a pot and sprinkle with 1/2 teaspoon of the sait. Cover pot and cook shrimp over high heat unti shrimps turn pink.
Lower heat to medium low, and continue steaming shrimp for another 5 to 10 minutes.
Keep shrimp in pot until ready to serve. Boil 1 cup water in a deep saucepan.
Place the trimmed asparagus spears in boiling water.
Cover saucepan and cock asparagus for about 5 to 7 minutes. Drain and plunge into ice water for 2 to 3 minutes.
Drain asparagus and sprinkle with the remaining 1/2 teaspoon salt and caiamansi juice.
Place steamed shrimp and asparagus spears on va large platter.
