Ingredients:
1 bag (1 lb) yellow split peas, rinsed, sorted
1 cup julienne-cut carrots (from 10-oz bag)
1⁄2 lb cooked ham, chopped (1 1⁄3 cups)
1⁄2 teaspoon dried thyme leaves
1⁄2 teaspoon dried marjoram leaves
1⁄4 teaspoon pepper
2 cans (14 oz each) chicken broth
1 1⁄2 cups water
Method:
1 In 3- to 4-quart slow cooker, mix all ingredients.
2 Cover; cook on Low heat setting 8 to 10 hours.
3 Increase heat setting to High; stir well. Cover; cook 30 minutes longer.
easy variation:
You can substitute 1 cup thinly sliced carrots if you don’t have julienne-cut carrots.
