Chocolate Covered Strawberries

Chocolate Covered Strawberries is real Love Deserves Real Chocolate, easy and elegant dessert that we really loved. Like some others, I omitted the shortening and did not miss it. I also found that 12 ounces of Ghiradelli Dark Chocolate Nice for Valentines Day Special

Ingredients:
16 ounces milk chocolate chips
2 tablespoons shortening
1 pound fresh strawberries with leaves washed and dried very well
3 ounces white chocolate, chopped

Method:
Prepare a baking sheet by lining it with aluminum foil.

Wash the strawberries and dry them thoroughly.

Place the chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl and microwave them until they melt, stirring every 45 seconds. It should take about 2 minutes.

Holding a strawberry by the stem, dip it in chocolate, twirling it in a circular motion to evenly cover most of the berry. As you lift it from the chocolate, twirl it so that any excess chocolate drips back into the bowl.

Place the berry on the prepared baking sheet and repeat with remaining berries and chocolate.

Once all of the berries are dipped, refrigerate them for 30 minutes to set the chocolate. These candies taste best when eaten the same day they are made.

Notes and Tips:
My suggestion is to melt the shortening before adding the chocolate. The 1st batch I made I didn’t do this and it stayed clumpy. These were a huge hit at my party. Nobody could believe that they were homemade. I even used the store brand choc. Chips. Easy to make, highly recommended.
