Ingredients
4 cups cake batter*
1 (8-inch) round cake
3 cups Buttercream Frosting (see page 41), colored peach
1 cup Base Frosting (recipe follows)
1 doll body and head
Pastel miniature marshmallows
Pearl dragées
Small chocolate nonpareils
A 2-layer cake recipe or mix will yield about 4 cups cake batter.
Method
1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease and flour 2-quart oven proof bowl. Pour 4 cups cake batter into bowl.
2. Bake 1 hour and 15 minutes, or until wooden skewer inserted into center comes out clean. Cool 15 minutes in bowl. Loosen edge; invert on wire rack and cool completely.
3..Trim flat side of bowl cake and top of round cake,Trirn round cake even with bowl cake, Place round cake on serving platter.
4. Frost top with Buttercream Frosting. Place bowl cake flat-side down on frosting.
5. Frost entire cake with Base Frosting to seal in crumbs. Make small V-shaped hole in center of cake and insert doll.
6. Frost cake and doll with additional buttercream frosting.
7. Use flattened marshmallows, pearl dragées and chocolate nonpareils to decorate skirt. To serve, remove doll and slice cake into small wedges Makes 14 t018 servings
Base Frosting
3 cups powdered sugar, sifted
1/2 cup butter or margarine, softened
¾ cupmilk
½ teaspoon vanilla
Combine all ingredients in large bowl. Beat with electric mixer until srnooth.Thin out with additional milk, if desired. Make 2 cups
