1 lime

3 tsp brown sugar

1/4 cup cachaça

Plus:

Crushed ¡ce

Muddler

Rocks glass (5 oz)

I straw

Method

1 Rinse lime under hot water, wipe dry, cut into quarters, and cut quarters in half. 

2 Place in the rocks glass and sprinkle with sugar. Crush limes thoroughly with the muddler.

3 Fill rocks glass with crushed ice and pour on cachaça. Give it one good stir and serve with the straw.

Variations of Caipirinha Cocktail:

Non-alcoholic: Crushthe lime with sugar as described. Add 1/4 cup passion fruit nectar. 

Fill rocks glass with crushed ¡ce and top up with club soda. Stir well.
