The Filipino Style Hipon Sa Gata (Prawns in Hot Coconut Milk Sauce) Serves 4
Filipino Style Hipon Sa Gata |
1-1/2 lbs. prawns with shells
1/2 cup coconut milk
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 teaspoon finely chopped fresh ginger
1 teaspoon vegetable oil
1 hot chili pepper
salt and pepper to taste
Method:
Wash prawns. Set aside. In a saucepan over medium heat, sauté garlic and ginger in oil until lightly browned.
Add coconut milk, hot chili pepper and a little salt and pepper. Bring to a boil in medium heat. Add prawns.
Reduce to medium heat and simmer for 3-5 minutes or until prawns are cooked. Stir occasionally. Serve immediately with rice.
