The LABONG GUISADO (Sautéed Bamboo Shoots) Recipe Serves 4-5

1 12-oz. can bamboo shoot strips
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 medium-sized onion, sliced
1 medium-sized tomato, cut-up in small pieces
1/2 Ib. pork, sliced thinly
1/2 lb. shrimps, shelled
1/4 cup shrimp juice
1 tablespoon light soy sauce
salt and pepper to taste
Wash and drain bamboo shoots, squeezing out water by hand. Set aside.
Method:
In a skillet over medium heat, sauté garlic in oil until lightly browned. Add onion, stir for 1 minute. Add tomato, pork, soy sauce, a little salt and pepper, and simmer for about 10 minutes or until pork is tender.
Add shrimps, bamboo shoots and shrimp juice. Stir well and bring to a gentle boil for 6-10 minutes or until vegetable is tender. Serve immediately.
