Midwest Macaroni and Cheese

Midwest Macaroni and Cheese Recipe make ahead macaroni and cheese is easier more healthful, and better tasting than boxed.

Prep: 15 minutes, Cook: 5 Minutes, Serves: 4 (1-cup)

Ingredients:
6 ounces (1 1/2 cups) uncooked dried elbow macaroni
1 cup milk
12 ounces (3 cups) LAND O LAKES Deli American, Sharp American or Swiss & American Cheese, cut into 1/2-inch cubes
1/2 cup coarsely crushed seasoned croutons

Method:
1. Cook macaroni according to package directions. Drain.

2. Combine cooked macaroni, milk and cheese ¡n medium saucepan. Cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until cheese ¡s melted (5 to 6 minutes).

3. Spoon macaroni nto individual freezer containers with tight-fitting lids. Cover; freeze up to 2 months.

4. Thaw in refrigerator at least 24 hours. Place individual servings ¡n microwave-safe bowls;
sprinkle each with 2 tablespoons crushed croutons. Microwave on HIGH (100% power), stirring once, until heated through (1 to 2 minutes).

Notes and Tips:
Stir in 1 cup cooked peas or chopped broccoli or 1 cup cubed deli ham.
