Southern-Style Green Beans

Southern-Style Green Beans Recipe is a great recipe for Thanksgiving or any holiday. It has been in my family for many years. Hope you enjoy it.

SERVES 2 AS A MAIN DISH, 4 AS A SIDE DISH. Serving size: 1 cup as a main dish, ½ cup as a side dish.

Ingredients:
1 pound green beans
1 teaspoon canola oil
1 teaspoon olive oil
½ medium onion, sliced
1 pound portobello mushrooms, sliced
1 teaspoon salt

Method:
1. Remove the tips from the beans and break the beans into pieces 1 to 1½ inches long.

2. Wash and dry the beans.

3. Heat the canola oil and olive oil in a large skillet. Cook the sliced onion for 3 minutes.

4. Add the green beans, mushrooms, and salt.

5. Cook slowly, covered, for 30 to 40 minutes, until tender. When the beans are done, there should be very little or no liquid left in the skillet.

6. Serve hot as a main dish or as a side dish.
