Italian Sausage Baked Ziti

Italian Sausage Baked Ziti Recipe was great, made it for a wine tasting party, it was a hit, making it again for a potluck this week, it tastes like Lasagna, i did add a little fresh garlic and basil to enhance the Italian flavor submit from guitarmom

Ingredients:
1 Onion
1 poundItalian sausage; removed from casing
1 3-lb jarSpaghetti sauce; see note
2 tablespoonsParmesan cheese
4 slicesProvolone cheese
6 ouncesMozzarella cheese; shredded
8 ouncesRicotta cheese
1/2 poundZiti pasta;
cooked al dente (8 minutes) and drained

Method:
Brown the meat and onion and drain fat.

Return the meat and onion back to the pan and add the spaghetti sauce simmering for 15 minutes.

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Layer ingredients in a square baking dish.

Pour 1 cup of the sauce mixture on the bottom half of the pasta, provolone cheese slices, and ricotta cheese spread over the provolone cheese.

Then add half of the remaining sauce mixture to the remaining pasta, and mozzarella cheese.

Finally pour the remaining sauce over dish, and top with parmesan cheese.

Bake for 30 minutes and you may want to bake it on a cookie sheet to prevent splatters in your oven.

Serve with crusty bread and a salad, if desired.
