Makes 8 dozen
1 1/2 cups stick margarine
2 cups granulated sugar
12 tablespoons or 3/4 cup molasses
2 teaspoons salt
2 teaspoons cinnamon
2 teaspoons ginger
4 teaspoons baking soda
5 cups flour
Beat eggs and add the shortening, sugar and molasses. Set aside. Sift together the salt, flour, cinnamon, ginger and baking soda.
Add the sifted mixture to the egg mixture and combine together.
Roll the mixture into small balls. Roll the balls in granulated sugar.
Place balls on a cookie sheet and bake 6 or 7 minutes in 350 degree oven. Makes 8 dozen.
